what distro - Page 2

gnome-applet-sensors. Install it, and then right click a gnome panel and hit "Add to panel...". Fairly straight forward addon, but it'll only display CPU and core temps. I don't believe there's anything for chipset temps, etc though.

As far as the Raptor goes, I've actually thought about selling it. Nothing wrong with it, I just feel cramped for space from time to time. 10k rpm is nice, but I need something bigger (and I don't feel like buying a higher capacity raptor ). If you're serious, shoot me a PM and I'll consider.

Crap, I gotta wait 20 minutes before I try that. Downloading nexuiz (fps game for linux) on my sister's 56k connection = PHAILE

Haha, I feel your pain. Even though I've got cable now, the days I had 56k were horrible.. Had it til 2003/2004 before I switched.. It's also when I went from 98 to XP. . That fps sounds interesting though, I'll have to check it out.

Anyway, that applet was the only thing I could find for temps when searching in yumex for "temperature". My thoughts were it's better to have something rather than nothing.

Nah, man. I tried all that good stuff and nothing would work. I even tried several reinstalls thinking I messed something up, but alas, it happened every time upon getting to the desktop. It's a shame; it seemed to be very good besides that.

I sure hope you mean 10K RPM

What? Nexuiz is like 250MB! Downloading that with 56k would take 16 hours!

PS: Nexuiz is awesome. I was pretty good at it before I had to put gaming on hold. My in-game name is cd\\The Hundred Gunner, if you ever see me.

Was it an older Fedora version? I started using Fedora when it was FC6, and that's where I first experienced the yumex issues.. But with F7 and F8 those were gone.

And yes, I did mean 10k. Fixed now.

That's really weird.. I did a quick search, and the only thing I could find is this (which by the way, repo manager is in pirut. Open terminal, type pirut, hit enter.).. Couldn't find anything about the issue you had though. I wonder if installing 7 first, then upgrading to 8 would make things different. Hopefully 9 does better for you, if you choose to give it a shot.

Well I haven't used F8 since then and don't have any intentions of getting it installed any time soon. I will definitely try F9 when it comes out, though; I try every distro as they come out. And I don't stick to any of them lol

Grub is Linux/UNIX's easiest bootloader...
