This has a good feature!

I was just reading some reviews on NewEgg for this ASUS 16x DVD drive, and everyone was actually complaining about how the LED stays on when there's a disc inside (one guy noted that it still blinks when it's reading it, otherwise it's solid on). Everyone thought this was a problem.

But I gave it some thought, and I came to the conclusion that this is actually a feature (and a really nice feature). Why? Well, I think it would be very nice to have an "occupied" light on my optical drives.

I mean, how many times have you gone to put a disc in a drive with your hands completely tied up because you have the disc in one hand, and like a beverage or the disc's case in the other only to find that the drive was occupied and so now you have to put everything down just to put that disc away? That's kinda frustrating.

Had a light been on indicating that a disc was in there, you would've been able to merely glance over, see that it was occupied, and then take the disc out before doing anything.

That's such a smart feature. If it's simply a glitch.

Are there any SATA DVD writers in the $30 range that do this as well?

I'm tempted to write a review and say something similar to what I said in this thread. I don't remember who told me this, but somebody here on OCN told me that those reviewers on NewEgg are a bunch of idiots. lol
