Future price drop??

Hi, guys. I hope you're doing well right now.

I just have a little question: will the prices for video cards go down by the end of March?

I'm currently perfecting my first build (and a few different e-tailors will be providing the parts), so I've been asking a lot of questions. One of the answers I received also included a tip which said something about how prices will drop by late March/early April because new products will be coming out. Coincidentally, I can't purchase the last parts of this computer (whatever they turn out to be) until at least April 1st.

Now, there's a specific direction I'm taking this: I have my eyes on this BFG 8600GTS which is $109.99 reg. price, and $84.99 after the MIR. The MIR says this much be purchased between 3/1 and 3/31 (but must be post-marked by 5/1). Should I wait until around then to see if the price drops?

That's pretty much all I have to ask. Thank you for your time.

I wold wait, a great deal of Nvidia stuff is slated to come out this month if memory serves so that should drop the 8 series pricing.

Oh, now that would be sweet. Then I'm definitely going to wait until like March 30th to buy it. I'm seeing all sorts of possibilities.

I'd have to agree. See how things go for March and make your decision then since the 9800's are due to launch. Whether or not that will drive the price of the 8800GT's down I'm not sure but the 9600GT's are looking pretty sweet and will give you almost twice the performance of an 8600 if you have the extra bankroll.

I also agree. Wait and see what happens if you don't need th card right now. I run a gen behind in graphics to save money. but gaming is not the primary use of my computer and being a little behind doesn't bother me for the dollars i save. It is all a matter of opinion. Just remember the rule in computer tech. "there will always be something new on the way to drop prices later."

Yeah, gaming isn't my top priority either.

Yeah, that's how I'm looking at it too. But I'm gonna buy that 8600GTS, and maybe upgrade later (although, I have this strong feeling that I won't feel like I need to. This card's probably going to rock my world!)

But yeah, I don't mind being a little behind. After all, check out my sig rig. hehe
