Microphone not working...

My microphone stopped working out of no where. I just recently got a x-box 360 at Christmas and have stopped using my mic but now that I downloaded Warrock and wanted to join a clan my microphone won’t work. It’s connected in the back at the right place and the mic volume is turned up to high but it won’t seem to work. I tried Audio wizard for the mic and it still can't pick up the voice.

All i know is that it had never given me trouble before and now all of a sudden it pops up. I believe it is a Altec Lansing model and my sound card thingy is SoundMAX. Sorry about that I'm no good with these kinds of things.

It’s a headphones and mic together and the cords were merged together by a little black piece so I asked my dad to slice it so I could separate it because I only have one like speakers jack in the back. I wanted to slice it to connect it to my speakers in the front whenever I want to use it. But anyways getting off topic., it has worked fine ever since I did that.

I tried on another forum but no one responded

Do you have another mic to test with? That'd be the first thing I'd try.

so.....the mic has failed after your dad repaired it ....? if so
it sound related to the fact u have cut the wires so its a wireing problem not really something the ppl on here really deal with...... i would suggest a new mic they are cheap as chips.... im sure if u tell your dad he bodged it up he will buy u a new one

i have x-fire but i have never used it...

have a look at these ...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Logitech-X...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Logitech-Preci...QQcmdZViewItem

any of these would be worth buying rather than trying to find the fault in your current mic....

oh by the way warrock is SUPERB !!!!!!!!!!
