How is that motherboard by the way? Being in Australia, I don't hear much about Biostar.
I have no idea, I haven't run it yet. I am running a Biostar board now and I its a solid board. I'll let you know in a few weeks when I get the TA770 up and running.

I would say an 8400 for gaming ;P But since you want to support the underdog i would say wait until april to get the B3 batch of phenoms Or else get the X2 for some overclocking, but again if you are gonna be switching mobos anyway consider an 8XXX aswell.

.... yep, I'd go with the consensus.... get the 5000 Black and wait for better Phenoms to come out. And the TA770 is a nice board and has been working just fine for me.... no problems getting set up and running the 5000 in my sig. The BIOSes have been a little tricky yet for settings, but this board has some good potential and will get better once Biostar gets things sorted out.

I personally am waiting for the AM3 socket.. I have waited this long to upgrade.. the least I can do is wait to see what is around the corner a bit closer... especially when it looks very tasty.

Naturally I will wait till real people review real CPU's and so forth.. But I do not see any reason to purchase anything right now anyhow..

Face it folks.. most of the gear you people run is faster then you could possibly need for a few years...if not a few more.

I know.. blasphemy..

If you plan another upgrade in the next 12-16 months then go with the 5000be, if you want to buy this and wait 3 years then go phenom.
why dual 3870's? just get an HD3870x2 xD

anywyas at thread starter, get a cheap x2 now and upgrade to the 'fixed' batch of phenoms in the near future. Or you can get intel lol E2180 and an ABIT IP35-E for a total of $150 WILL beat that x2

These new 45NM Phenoms that will be coming out this year...will they be AM2+ or AM3? Will they be backward compatible?
