Epic debate: Halo vs. GoW - Page 7

i've played halo 1-3 on the 360, personally, it was only fun for when i first got it. after that then it was boring. gears of war i had played for almost a whole year until i started college where as halo only lasted for about 3 months. The only true time halo is fun is when your playing with people you know. if its random people, then halo is boring.

another attractive feature of gears is blowing the sh it out of someone you don't know and making fun of it. in halo if you died, you just fell down and that was it. in gears your head, your body, your upper torso, lower torso and other body parts were either blown away or was the only part of you left(hehe).

halo takes no skill in my opinion, if you can point and shoot, you can be a good halo player. another thing about halo is, if two people have the same gun, the person who started shooting first wins 95% of the battles. in gears there was a more realistic approach in battle such as actually diving out of the way and not getting shot. i dont know bout you but im not going to try to walk away from someone shooting me like in halo. you best believe im going to dive my ass all over the place just to stay alive instead of running at the guy hoping he might forget to pull the trigger.

thats what pissed me off bout halo, the person who shot first normally won. in gears you have a chance to try to think and out smart the guy using something that isn't main the main focus of halo. TACTICS. halo involves no planning except for capture the flag and thats it. all the other modes of halo are try to hide as long as possible which they kindly give a marker to where you are(good job bungie) or kill as many people possible. in gears one on one battles were one of the most epic parts of the game when it left to two kick ass players or a noob vs a pro. its fun to see a noob out smart a pro once in a while.

i feel the gears story was better because it was open ended to let you think what will happen. plus you didn't need to go out and buy 5 books to understand the game. im not saying reading is bad, but why should i have to play the game, read 3 books in between each game just to have a slight idea of whats going on?

sure gears had it's plot holes but the story was understandable(except for the train) with the use of doing much digging like with halo. but this is all my opinion.

chainsaws on a gun is like peanut butter and chocolate.

Of course...I would much rather see the body parts actually being blown away then your body supposedly staying completely in tact with it twisting in weird postions. It just makes the game so much more fun and exciting to watch...and play.

Also, chainsaws on a gun...are very much like peanut butter and chocolate...I like to compare it to strawberries and chocolate.

really hasn't "successed" at all as much as you think. The online is the ONLY thing going for Halo. If you take away the online, you've got a ****ty game my friend, a very ****ty game. (With the exception of Halo 1 - that was good)

By success i mean commercially of course. I completely agree on the fact that Halo 1 was the best out of the 3. After the first one it felt like the sequals were missing something. As good as i found the multiplayer it never really compared to the system link games i used to play back in the day on the original Halo.

Personally I feel as if the story is what brought me back to play the sequals. ( i even read the Halo books lol, go ahead you can laugh )

Take some vids/screenshots of your Xbox Live Matches ......... since I think practice/skill makes a big difference.

nah man, there are more crazy people out there then just the ones who read the books.

Though sometimes throughout the series of Halo - I think that Toejam & Earl even has a better storyline/plot.
