8800gt.....dont know which one to pick. - Page 2

The Galaxy ones rock man. That voltage jumper..... I'm in love with it. Something i've been wondering though, what's the highest clock on these cards? So far I haven't been able to find anyone who can top my OC. (780/1900/1100). I can get anykinda proof you guys need.

I can vouch for the galaxy 8800gt 512mb card as well (own one). there are 5 things that make it the best buy in my opinion:

1. Voltage jumper: easily increase core voltage from 1.1 to 1.3 with no fiddling with solder or messing with the warranty
2. Incredible stock cooler, equivalent to a zalamn vf-900 but with a larger heatpipe
3. Samsung memory chips that are batched higher than the standard qmonda that ships with everything else
4. Often the cheapest and usualy come with a MIR (2 weeks ago they were on ncix.com for 190$)
5. Smaller pcb size than reference design for better fit and airflow through your case

Drawback is that it comes from galaxy, an asian based company with little rep vs say an american company like evga or xfx. There's a thread somewhere here about it, think its called "demything galaxy 8800gt" or something like that. check it out and buy the card that feels right for you

Many Galaxy owners here. Yes. It is very good. I like it. See if someone can find a good price for it.

Check the 8800 thread and compare base clock and OC's on the various models.. that should help you somewhat with your decision. Other than that.. dont be fooled by cheap gimmicks like the Akimbo cooler. I have my xfx8800gt at sig'd clocks on a stock cooler and stock voltages.. most all of these cards will run faster than I have mine.

XFX has a great warranty that covers the card forever assuming you register it in 30 days from the date of purchase and that warranty will transfer over to anybody if you give the card away or sell it, again assuming if they register it in 30 days.

What's more is they don't reject RMA's on cards that have had the stock heatsink removed or replaced or cards have have been overclocked. As long as you don't damage any of the components when uninstalling/reinstalling the card or removing the heatsink they will repair it or replace it for good.

...sorry...it's the fanboy in me.

if i could do it again id get the oc version i think theirs 4 of them regular, overclocked, KO, and ssc "all evga" and they go up in 10$ increments
i know u can oc them your self but in my experience it makes them buggy and constantly fiddling with settings: so i say pay the extra 40 $ to get the highest oc and never have to worry about it again.
