which is better for gaming x8 or x16 (graphic card)

Thread Starter
i have 2 geforce 8600gt and there both inside my comp with an sli bridge attached. my motherboard doesnt support SLI so i cant really enable it. does having two graphic cards and at 8x affect in any way performence in gaming?
or should i take a card out and let it go back to x16 on single card?

please explain.
