Yup... I'd take it out if you can't run SLI.. maybe sell them both and step up to a 8800GTS?

You have come to the right place. But before asking so many questions, please try and google them, or use the search option. Before I ask questions I try and do as much homework as I can. If i need an opinion on something I researched, but want to see what other people think/experienced then I post. You will learn the ropes eventually, but there is always something new to learn. Enjoy your stay and good luck with your computer!

x8 won't harm the 8600gt's performance at all.

having both in, you won't see any performance decrease, but there won't be any increase ... so unless your running three monitors, there is no point in using the other 8600gt, you might as well chuck it in another rig or sell it and buy something more useful.

Agreed. The 8600GT won't use the full x16 anyway. However the only reason to run two cards without SLI is if you have 3 or 4 monitors. If that's not the case, just remove the second card. It won't decrease or increase anything. Ok, so it'll give you less heat inside, lol. 2 cards not in SLI only helps if you have more than 2 monitors. I'd say put that second card in another rig, or sell it and get something else for your rig (more RAM perhaps, IDK). Just like the quote above .
