Raid 0

Thread Starter
Hello all. I have XP Home SP2, and I want to set up raid 0 with two 250 gig hdd's. I have never set up any type of raid so I'll fire away with the noob questions. Can I add the second hdd and raid 0 it after I have already been running XP for awhile, or do I have to do a fresh install of XP to set it up?

when 2 hard drives are put into raid 0, the computer sees them essentially as one hard drive. you have to have both hard drives installed and have your raid controller configured, then install the OS

You have to do a fresh install. The data structure is shared between the two drives and it has to be set up at installation. Read this if you haven't yet. Covers the basics.
