Not all video cards overclock well, or even at all.

Especially pre-overclocked ones - sometimes, they are already at or close to their limit.

I would also check to confirm, via the Rivatuner graph, what speed your card is *actually* running at. I've heard tell of discrepancies of up to 50MHz vs. what the sliders say, something related to 25 vs 27MHz, 'crystals', and some other cr@p I don't really understand.

IOW, you may be OC'd way more than you think, even stock.

Maybe I misunderstood this part but they look "official" to me.

I had similar problems when I first got my 8800gts 640mb card with games crashing and getting an error with the video drivers not responding. After a driver update or two came out, I haven't had that problem for at least 4-5 months now. I'm guessing if you update to the beta drivers or at least when the beta becomes official after tweaking, you will probably be fine.

i got same problem. i just posted it now in the same section. go have a read. i reckon its nothing to do with psu. i got a dedicated 250watt thermaltake power express vga power supply just for the graphics that people run an 8800gtx on. not a heat issue either.

i reckon its bad batch

I installed my new Asus EN9600GT card 2 days ago and OC'ed as soon as it booted and I am also using the Nvidia drivers from the website. I have not even had a glitch and have run only one benchmark so far 3dmark05 with a score of 15567. This thing is awesome just bought another for sli mode. Sorry about ur luck I would take it back being from bestbuy u prolly spent to much anyways.

#1- your CPU is a massive bottleneck, as discussed in your other thread. You won't even be able to notice an improvements from a stable OC.
#2- I think the others are right, your PSU is either too weak or too low quality for that GPU.

Set it back to stock speeds and leave it alone. Your GPU will thank you in the long run... or even the short run, in your case.

changing power wont help.

its a bad batch of cards.

EVGA, BFG and Palit/Expert Vision have been having problems, either due to firmware, or due to there modifications to the card where the voltage is wrong for the overclock.

I havent herd of any XFX cards having problems as of yet.

Its not PSU at all. definitly.....i can back this up as ive got a dedicated vga psu with enough power for 2 x 8800gtx in sli. and since this card uses less power than them its not a psu problem.

only some will experience problems with the card, and if you do....send it back.

P.S. I found it really didnt like Call of Duty 4, so test it on that as soon as you get card to see if it has a fault.

Do you have a press release from any of those companies or from nVidia?

I'm sorry to say, that CPU is a huge bottleneck. Even if you run it at 3.0ghz, it still would not matter. Even if you got that card to OC to 900mhz, you will not see any difference. Your PSU is 400W...you need a better PSU.

I went from a AMD x2 4600+ sk939 @ 2.7ghz to the Q6600, and even at stock speeds I noticed my FPS jumped like 20 in BF2. When I OC'd it to 3.4 my FPS jumped a bit more. It's like Tri-SLI Ultras, but with a P4 2.8ghz as the CPU.
