BFG 8800GT OC flashed to OC2

Thread Starter
Hey there, I'm just wondering if its possible and if anyone has done this. From what I understand, they are exactly the same except the OC2 has higher clocks and I believe it has 1.1v set instead of the 1.05 set for the OC.

If anyone has tried this, please let me know as I would like to do it too

I'm just worried that there might be some other hardware related differences between the OC and OC2. Anyone have information on this?

Do you even know if your card can go to OC2 speeds?

Why bother with flashing when you can just use Rivatuner to overclock to OC2 speeds.

When the 8800 GT comes out of the factory, they are all the same, but BFG might be binning each chip into OC and OC2 bins.

I have the OC card and OC'd past OC2 speeds to 696/1674/987.... but I didn't go straight from OC speeds to my current speeds. I did it right and moved a little at time while benching and watching for artifacts. I had the core at 702, but had to back down to 696 because only 1 game was causing me to crash. Every other game I own was running flawless at 702. The benefit of overclocking with Rivatuner is that you can back down the clocks if something's not right.

No need to flash when there are programs out there that overclock just fine.

Hi Homestyle,
I have a BFG 8800 GT OC2 Graphics card and am interested in the figures you quote. According to RivaTuner, my card runs at 675/1674/975 [out of the box].
Do you reckon a bit more could be squeezed out? If so, could you explain to a silver surfer how I use RivaTuner to do this? I have managed to be able to alter my fan speeds but so far I have not dabbled with the clock speeds of the card.
Cheers,

There is no voltage difference between OC and OC2 BIOS. OC2 is indeed binned so that higher speeds are assured.
