Help me with Pidgin please!

Thread Starter

I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. It keeps poping up whenever I turn Pidgin on. Whenever I receive an IM, Pidgin crashes.

Hmmm, two troubleshooting options I can see.

1. Try re-downloading the install file, see if that works.

2. Install and run the client from a flash drive or something, in case your HDD is interfering somehow.

This DLL is source of lots of problems, I suspect that it's a win32 only dll. Stuff like Frets on Fire too won't work.

You might want to Google up the specific DLL, or submit an issue on the Pidgin bug-tracker.

I had the same problem after reinstalling windows and I just googled the .DLL name and found a download for it. Installed it and it works great.

Not sure if your on vista though, look around on the net for some help.

this is a new error i get as well with the newest version of pidgin. revert back to 2.3.0 or whatever the previous version was. I believe you can still download it.

http://filehippo.com/download_pidgin/

That has every version of pidgin released. Try an earlier one and see if you still get the error. I never got that error with the ealier version, and now I get it to. I plan to revert when i get home from work tonight.

EDIT: This also happened after reinstalling vista, so that may be a problem too...interesting...very interesting.

I think MS must miss that DLL out of their OS's. Since my XP32 did it and Vista does it too, must be an MS issue.

FYI, I'm using 2.3.1 on Vista Ultimate 32. Not sure what version I had on my laptop before I wiped, but it worked fine on my XP Pro from 4yrs ago.

good. I'm sure they'll fix the problem in 2.4.1. Then you can upgrade .
