Anticipating the 780G

If you haven't heard... the 780G is going to best integrated video EVER. AMD placed a HD2400 into the chipset so thing supports UVD hardware acceleration, 3D, and DX10. In addition, it will support Hybrid Crossfire in Vista. The chipset will support PCIe 2.0 and HDMI. The next closest IGP is about 3 times slower.

From the benchmarks, this motherboard will perform close to a HD3450. This means onboard video running BluRay stutter free.

Oh, this onboard video can overclock as well. It usually runs at 500MHz but can hit around 1000MHz. This means onboard video hitting 3000 in 3DMark06!!!!!!

Oh, this is also the lowest power chipset.... ridiciulous.

Awesome. They were officially launched today. If anyone is looking to build a HTPC from scratch... GET THIS MOTHERBOARD and any dual-core AM2.

I plan to sell my 630i/7150 and E6300 to get it!!!

After hearing about this today, I am going to have to change my mind on the build that I had a couple of weeks ago for consideration. This will completely eliminate the need for a video card, atleast in the HTPC market. It has enough processing power to fully play HD with not stutters, etc. One review used a Celeron 3200+ and it was still able to display without stuttering. AMAZING!

Also AMD is putting out a new chip that will also be good in a HTPC the X2 4850e. It will clock in at 2.5 Ghz, but on only 45W. This will be good for those hot cramped little HTPC cases. Not to mention it is at a good price point, and should come in at around $100($89 for batch of 1000).

Looks like march is looking good for the HTPC market!

You mean Sempron! (Celeron is Intel)

Also, check out the AMD Athlon X2 BE-2350, BE-2300, and BE-2400. These are all also 45w TDP.

I am very much so gonna get one for an HTPC. I may be an Intel fanboy but wow not having to buy a video card saves me some money and being AMD, cheap dual cores .

Yeah what you said Duckie . I am really excited to get back to the states so I can start my build. I've been doing research for what seems like forever.

I'm waiting for Nvidia's upcoming offerings, the Geforce 8200/8300, since they will have 8-channel pcm audio over hdmi; the 780g can only do 2-channel.

Do they do hardware decoding? I have a 630i/7150 and it does not.

All three upcoming competing offerings, the 780g, Geforce 8200, and Intel's G45, have hardware decoding for MPEG2, VC-1, and AVC. Intel's will do 8-channel pcm over hdmi as well, leaving the 780g lacking, but it (the G45) will be released later.
