It's a capacitor. It's also quite normal.....

Yes, again. most likely a power issue. The power is either to low or to high and is fluxing in those ranges. So its 12+ volts correct?

so its could be fluxing 11.xx Volts, 10.xx volts, 13.xx V, Etc. Doing this, again, causes the power regulators to work harder and also to heat up.

To explain, if you have an voltmeter, and you go and test a standard 120V AC plug somewhere in your home, you'll see 120V.. 121V, 119V, 120.021 V. etc.

Thats why we have these "Power regulators" in place... the Volts are always changing, they are not "constant".. ^ ^ ^-- *Note the "Regulate"*

so youre saying to replace a psu to get rid of a perfectly normal occurance that really does nothing more than make a noise?

I never meant for the end user to fully replace the PSU, i meant it as if he had an other one kicking around, and switch it over and see if it still does it.

Yeah I gotcha, just recommending swapping psu's to get rid of a simple noise which is prefectly normal is a bit pointless IMO. Im curious though if that volt mod would allow more voltage to the gpu and help with that also but personally mine does it all the time and I just got used to it. I kind of think it reminds me of a supercharger so when its in high gear it spools up. lol Like I said earlier ive had my g80 since first release and ive had no issues with it so far. Its a solid GPU. helped me get 12400 in 3dmark06 which my goal with this system was 12k. Honestly could probably see 14k with a bit more cpu oc but im happy with it for now. It plays every game out there at highest, even crysis. What more do you need? lol

My X1900XTX Toxic does the same thing, coming from the voltage regulators. In 2D mode its silent (yes sadly some games I play don't activate 3D mode) and in 3D mode it squeals.
