The better upgrade?

Thread Starter
Hello all,

Well i think i'm going to upgrade and am looking at either a q6600 GO or another 3850-70 and put it in xfire (yay for 8.3) with my sig. What would yield better gains and or less of a bottleneck? I'm leaning towards the CPU.

If your planning on just playing games, Id go for a second gfx for cfx. Your 3.0ghz should be good enuff that it wont bottleneck.

Depending on what you are doing, get another 3850 is the best of the money if you mainly play game. If you are working on multi-task and imaging/video editing etc, get a Q6600.

I'd opt for the quad-core, but not until the less pricey Yorkfield chips are released. A second graphics card will give a better gaming boost, but from what I've gathered, an E2k chips has to be clocked around 100-200MHz higher (assuming the same or very similar bus speed) than a Core 2 Duo with 4MB of L2 cache to properly compete with it.
