Extremely Surprised with 8800GT

Thread Starter
Well I've been running a XFX Ultra Extreme for 4 months or so and have it OC'd quite nicely and well wow, Ultra users know what that is (negating the fact the new cards are just being released ) But I decided to pick up an EVGA 8800GT for the media server to replace some 7600GT's in SLI I had running just for *****s and giggles. Threw this new card in the main machine to put her through some tests and WOW. I can't believe how versatile these little beasts are when OC'ing and running stable and cool (although I've heard otherwise with being cool, this one is very cool but probably due to my great air flow inside). I have it running atitool for half hour now @ 711/1777/2006 and it's not skipping a beat, running fan 80% and it's @ 48Cgpu/36Cboard, I'm assuming I have some of headroom left from the results I'm getting now. Crazy these are. I took apart the card right out of the box and cleaned it all up with better paste as well. I'm extremely impressed and happy I didn't buy the Akimbo one. I have noticed the fan above 75% is clearly audible over 3 Panaflo Ultra Highspeed 115CFM fans so little concerned with that in the media server. Anyhow just wanted to post some happenings with the new card. Feel free to share similar info or suggestions/comments on further OC'ing this. I'll go fire off some 3dMark06 and see what happens.

Not bad for a GT I figure. I had a 8800GTX that was just a few hundred points higher at it's maximum OC on 3dMark06.

Orbs is not picking up core or memory clock for some reason...
core 726
shader 1815
memory 2022

Odd I'm not doing anything different than I do with the Ultra bench's I run.

That is painful to see. I'm sorry about your lemon. I got a little lemon, but i could run mine at 950 9from 975) and be ok. RMA it?
