Orb error??

Thread Starter
I am trying to OC my computer farther and get over 11k for a score. When i bump the FSB up to 222 from 220, I get this error somewhere between instantly and a few minutes after windows starts.

Oops!

Orb has encountered a problem and needs to close.
If you report this error, our automated diagnostic system will attempt to suggest a fix .
Of course, this report is anonymous and will not contain any user identifiable information.
Ok to send Orb the error report ?

What does that mean? I searched google and it seems like it has something to do with windows explorer? I have no idea though. One forum suggested it might be a virus causing a program to fail, so I am just running a virus scan on my C drive for the hell of it even though I HIGHLY doubt I have one or that that is even the problem...

Could it be a problem with under voltage? I have my CPU V set to 1.5500V. My MoBo won't go any higher than that and I think that the second core might be under powered trying to reach 3.15GHz and creates errors when loading windows...but I'm not sure, I'm just taking an educated guess....if I can even call it that.

Doesn't it mean that your OC is unstable if programs start to quit on you?

Yes, it does. But that is the only one though, so I am not sure. I also would like to know what that error means because I haven't the slightest idea..

Do you have winamp? Orb is what they use for the remote service. Look for the winamp remote icon on your startbar that might tell you. How OC is affecting winamp i have no clue but it is a possibility.

Edit - I saw orb.exe and panicked and did a Virus scan as well, apparently its part of winamp. Now I still don't entirely trust it running as a task but thats how It is designed to work I guess. Now if you don't use winamp then how it got there is another mystery. Other programs might use orb as a remote hosting as well.

hmm, that could be it. I use Winamp Remote, and it probably is based off of Orb. Winamp Remote is programmed to start when windows starts also, so that could be it.

yeah, i remember loging into orb.com/winamp or something when I used it for the first time. Its always good to double check though.

Edit - Heres winamp remote home - https://winamp.orb.com/orb/html/login.html I remeber the last time i checked there were no instructions on how to use it. Maybe theres something now.

edit 2 if you right click the Icon and go to about, then system, it gives you the orb version number

yea, I do use Winamp, so its no mystery as to how it got there. It just dawned on me when winginit sent me the link and I read about Orb. I lowered the FSB and upped the multiplier to 15x and i got the CPU to a stable 3.120GHz. I managed to get 10748 with the GPU at stock still, so i think i might be able to break 11000 before the night is over. I'm just really bored today so I wanted to go a little bit further with my OC. I doubt I will be able to go much farther though because my CPU isn't a great OCer...

Thanks for the replies though
