what is a good CFM range for an 80mm fan?

i found a 80mm with 27CFM at 21dba, 2000rpm i believe it was...seems like a nice ratio.

I agree, that does sound nice. To be honest I don't think I have ever seen a efficient, yet silent, 80mm fan though...
Question....if you want it silent, why not put it on a fan controller? Get a really good fan, and just use a fan controller. That's what I'd do.

I think that is the best advice to follow. Definate rep!

I have high-cfm-fans controlled by 2 Sunbeam Rheobus's and I wouldn't have it any other way. I like having the potential to do suicide runs if I want to

nah, not really. If I were you I would fill all fan-holes in the case and hook them all up to a 4 or 6-port fan controller. You could buy the one you mention here, but it just isn't as cool(ing)
