True enough....as I wouldn't have gone that route immediately.

Ok, well this is hard to give regular updates due to the fact I have to torrent/play games for a hour or two before the problem occurs! So, I'm now torrenting with my bios change - if my network still drops, I'm going to change the channel to 14, then test again. Krunk Kracker, if all else fails, I may invest in one of those, but I'd like to get my network working with what I have currently, as I'm fed up with buying wireless devices Cheers for the suggestion though, I will put that on my shopping list if I cannot resolve the problem. Thanks again for people's help, I'll update as and when to whether it's fixed or whether I need more troubleshooting help!

Wait... only happens after a few hours of use... i missed that earlier. That tells me windows is broken. Download TCP Optimizer and run it. That'll reconfigure winsock and your TCP\\IP stack and make it run better.

I use vista 64 - I thought that did all the tcpip stuff automatically - is TCP optimizer safe to use on it then?

You'll have to check, it may be XP only......
Windows does all that "tcpip stuff" also... but we all know how good M$ products are . If TCP Optimizer is compotiable with vista i'd use it, just make sure to check it first.

try the trial of tune up utilities, it has all of that optimizer crap with it along with many other things, its one of the first things i install on a clean machine, you should try it out

i agree, it's good software. Just be careful with it, it can bork your windows just as quickly as it can fix it
