Check that the disk you are trying to install on to, is the first in the boot priority list

First to check the jumpers you need to have a look at the drive its self, might be easier to take it out the case and have it in your hands.

On the end where the power and Sata cable go there should be a little plastic cover over two pins. On the top of the drive there should be a diagram that shows the different positions that jumper can go in to choose whether it is a Master or Slave. Change the jumper to the setting of Master

As for the BIOS, when you start your machine up there will be an option to enter the BIOS at the post screen, normally at the bottom of the screen it will show the button to press to enter it (often DEL, or F12 or something like that)

Once in the bios, check in the ADVANCED menu, might be called something different mind so check them all. Your'e looking for an option called HDD BOOT PRIORITY. Its in there where you can choose what HDD boots first.

spudgunn is saying check in the bios on the boot priority list
which periferal fires up first i.e. cdrom / HDD / usb..... and so on

i was saying on the back of the HDD itself should be 3 jumper settings with a little plastic connector which covers 2 pins on the top of your HDD it will explain the locations of this cap....

spuddgunn has it covered .....
