bought 8800GT...

Thread Starter
Hello, i have bought nx8800GT video card and i dont like fps on games. In counter strike 1.6 when playing like 13 pp in server i have >100fps and lower. In half life 2 garrysmod10 when spawning ~15 npc's, fps gets low very fast about 50 and lower (npc's shooting and moving)
My pc:
core processor 4200+
ram 3gb
So how i can perform better fps on my pc?

Fill in your specs in the User CP so that we can help you more by seeing your full system configuration. From the looks of it the 3gb of ram looks to be populating all 4 slots, which is a bad thing for an AMD CPU, puts tons of stress on the on die memory controller. Plus do you have a OC on your CPU? If not, that is also a huge reason why your 8800GT is not performing as well as it should be. Trust me, its a great card! I typically get about 13.7K with my setup in 3dMark06, which is higher than a GTX could get.

You can use the User CP link at the top to fill in your system specs. That will help us get a better idea of what may or may not be causing your frame rate problem.

If you are using 2 sticks of RAM, it may be your issue. AMD CPUs have the Memory Controller built-in to the chip, and they really don't like more than 2 sticks of RAM. Try just 2 sticks, which should be 2 GBs, and that's enough RAM anyway, and see if it fixes the issue. Also, make sure you have the most up to date Video Card and Chipset Drivers, and that you have the most recent patches for all of your games, too. Also, download any Windwos Updates you don't have installed yet.

I hope you mean if he is using more than 2 sticks of RAM, you will have on-die memory controller issues. Stick with 2 sticks with AMD setup.

Are they matching timings? I would look into getting a matching pair. That's where I would start. Then you can start OCing to lessin the bottleneck on that 8800GT .
