okay so it's time for a new video card but alas I am awash with choices. i am aware that just about any new card is gonna be better than the 1650pro agp or 8500gt pci-e i've been sportin in my pc's. my budget is about $150$-$250$ and i've narrowed it down to 3 choices and will be pickin based on whoever decides to throw their 2-cents in my direction.

1. 8800gs - $150$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150275

2. 9600gt - $180$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130328

3. hd 3870 - $180$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125086

I'm looking for the best price/performance info you guys wish to give...and for the lazier of us a simple poll too. the board I'm buying is a sli board so if I get one of the nV cards I do have options for another video card later. i'm giving myself a headache trying to decide so you guys will help...I hope! Feel free to give me other choices in my price range if you like...

Why not just buy an 8800gt for $199 after MIR?
Like this nice evga one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130318

Between these three I would go with the 9600GT as it is faster with AA turned on. But if you can go for the 8800GT with MIR.

9600GT's performance is between 8800GS and 8800GT. It is about the same as 3870 and slightly slower than 8800GT. So the selection should be 9600GT, 8800GT or HD3870. The lower price for 9600GT is $150 and 8800GT is $190 and 3870 is $200. If you can't justify the extra $40 then go for 9600GT. Otheriwse, pick 8800GT for performance and HD3870 for nice benchmark. Also, the lower price for G92 8800GTS is $230. Its performance is better than GT and runs lots cooler and has higher OC potential.

Save a little bit of extra cash to get the 8800GT instead for better performance if not then just get the 9600GT like LK said
