It depends on the chip, you might be right though.

I just thought that considering I can get mine up to 4.6GHZ on mere air cooling, it wouldn't take much to get it a little higher with some more extreme cooling.

You could go get a POWER6 server dual core- each @ 4.7ghz stock.
This is an IBM super comp server , and then try and oc it the last .3 ghz
1)this would require a bank "loan" as stated , and
2)its utterly useless to 99% of anything fun .

I want to see 4.6 on "mere air cooling" FZO
thats incredible, does it load your OS ?

the QX9775 has been stable at 5Ghz on H20 using the skulltrail, its not impossible as other may want you to believe, give it 6months and you will be able to buy cpus capable of 5ghz off the shelves
