What's the current top 24/7 speed for the 45nm and 65nm C2D's?

Lol... "Vcore @ 1.88v"

Thanks =D

Never will be stable 24/7.

Well heres a realistic build

Get exactly what I have. RIght now Im running stable at 4.2 Ghz CPU, 955 mem @ 5-5-5-15 (can be better), and its a 24/7 clockrate

If you picked up an intel chipset board instead of NVidia, you could probably get 4.3-4.5 stable on air cooling with a 1.35 voltage. it takes me 1.39 volts to post at 4.5 GHZ so with a better mobo, you might be able to do 4.5 on less volts

and thats not even water cooled. What do you suppose you could get if you threw water cooling in it?

It isn't TEMP that is the problem it's VOLTS! And just because you use a different Mobo isn't going to change the fact that you will need major volts for 5GHz, more volts than you can safely run 24/7 regardless of the temperature.

Besides, compare a celly, a conroe and a wolfdale all at the same speeds. The newer tech gets better performance clock for clock, so there is no need to go faster. Ask the car guys, speed and performance isn't all about horsepower.

And, read up on wolfdales. Temp is not an issue anymore. The new CPU's run so cool it isn't worth water cooling them (almost ) They have reached a point where the electricity damages a CPU before heat does.

Watercooling does not do squat for you with w 45nm Dual Core CPU.

Unless your going 45nm Quad, temp will be a small issue instead of a non-existent one.

Thank you.

And this post is very serious. Bank loan is in the air untill I get the estimated amount of funds needed. thanks guys
I see this is a very old thread, just thought I would chime in because I saw one this past summer at a trade show in Philadelphia. It was a 5.0 Ghz Intel Gulftown system with all 6 cores hitting that speed. Only 6 GB of RAM though, they said it was too tough to get it to work with 12 GB.

The company was named Liquid Nitrogen Overclocking, but they weren't using LN2 on that rig. It was a single stage vapor change cooler, it held -40 degrees during load.

I guess times, they are a changin'! What was a "pipe dream" 2 years ago is now reality!
