[VR & Express] 9800GTX 768MB?

post #1 of 41

Quote:
Nvidia's refurbished G92-based 9800 GTX will launch in the last week of March. The card will cost €399 and it will have 768MB of memory. It will also have two SLI bridges and it will support Tri SLI. The quad SLI will remain the thing for 9800 GX2 cards and you won’t be able to use more than four chips at the same time.
Ok now i'm officially lost, one minute it's 512MB now 768MB. So by this next comment from express review we should have an idea what to expect from the GTX.

Quote:
Our source confirmed that 9800GTX will hit the market in March 25. It is the second or third 9 series card by NVIDIA. While we can expect the 9800GX2 will be as high as 6XX USD, the price of 9800GTX still keeps unknown. We know a single 9800GTX only performs like its predecessor, but maybe it is born for 3-way SLI.

Lol ..

I seriously think that the 9800gtx will be a G94 core.
post #7 of 41
Hm, pretty interesting. I don't think this will stop 90% of the board from hating the 9000 series, but IMO this is a pleasant surprise. At least it won't be a rehashed 8800gts 512 (if anything, it will be a rehashed 8800gts 512 with more vram )

I just mooched over at my Single 8800GTX score @ stock with a 3Ghz Quad. By the looks of that CPU score it's a lower end CPU but those SM2 and SM3 scores are quite high for that CPU score imo.

Running Vista X64 Ultimate

Quad @ 3Ghz
Single 8800GTX @ 576/1800

SM2 = 5092
SM3 = 5344
CPU score = 4267

Actually, we also don't know the settings used in this test. For all we know, there could be weird AA and AF settings on.
