The Crysis benchmarking tool...

Everybody got this already?

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download...94c48ce2dd80df

This thing is COOL ... after months of hand-editing text files to change the bench settings, I'm so friggin stoked on this thing!

Plus it has the Harbor Assault bench on it, with full AI and sound, I think it's more representative of real gameplay than the stock version we've all been using forever.

Hey, I have an idea, let's all post our scores with a specific setting, like, say, 1680x1050, all High, DX9, 16xAF, High Performance (both in control panel), and lets see what everyone gets with their rigs. Do them at least twice, cause the first one is always slow, and post our ave FPS on the Harbor Assault, just for comparison's sake.

Make sure you give your gpu settings as well. Here's mine, with the specs (w. the high gpu settings) in my sig, all other specs as I stated above.

Global Game Quality: High

Run #1- DX9 1680x1050 AA=No AA, 32 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Last Average FPS: 31.63

Have to say I'm pretty happy with this, considering my gpu/cpu/mobo/mem cost me $450 total ...

I couldn't even do that with my rig at those settings I don't want to have to OC my processor just to run a benchmark.

Quit complaining, people do that with all games, just not as much.

Agreed. I have mixed feelings about Crysis. Yes it is beautiful but actual gameplay is average at best. Hell of a way to sell processors and video cards I'm sure. It seems the only references to it these days are "I get xx fps!" In my group of friends, I call it 3DMark: Interactive

There are so many other FPSs out there that are better experiences IMO like Bioshock, Half-Life series, and COD4. They are graphically inferior but they are more immersive and enjoyable. The COD4 single player, although short-lived, is easily one of the best I have ever played.

This new benchmarking tool is really nice though. I use it like the Prime95 of the graphics subsystem to check for any kind of instability. Very useful!

Well, that's too bad. I would've been keen to see how your rig does on it.

We've all played it through, so who cares if we now just use it as a bench?

It seems everything else is kinda outdated and/or cpu limited these days.

It does seem to track rather nicely the overall power of a given rig, does it not?

We are in complete agreement. As a matter of fact, I would go so far as to say Far Cry was a much better game overall. It certainly took me a LOT longer to finish, had higher replay value, seemingly much bigger levels with more ways to finish each one (aside from the corridor crawls), and all in all was more immersive and cerebral in terms of gameplay.

I too much prefer the HL series. Heck I practically started bawling at the end for Episode 2 for god sakes. Those games make you really *care* about what's going on in the story. Plus I really wanna, like, ya know, DO alyx.

But all in all STALKER has been favorite FPS since HL2 came out. I can't wait for Clear Skies baby!!!

Anyways ... so I guess nobody wants to play along and post their scores? Whatever man. I thought it'd be interesting, but hey, what do I know?

Cool, thanks.

Not that it matters, but I was hoping to get everyone running the same specs (for 'control' on the experiment, as they say)

And I think a few people are thinking I said AAx16, but what I said was 16xAF.

16xAA is craziness on that app!!!
