I'm getting ready to rebuild my dad's pc with the k9a2 platinum, 5k+ BE, msi nx8600gts, 2 gigs of crucial ddr2 1066, antec neo 550W with his antec sonata II case.

I also purchased the noctua nh-u12p cpu heatsink/fan from the heatsink factory for $69 after s&h. From my research, it's one of, if not the best for quiet cooling. If you think you might be interested, keep in mind you'll have to do some simple fabricating in order to mount the brackets to the k9a2 board. There's a mobo review on neoseeker that shows pictures of the obstruction. Here's photos of the fix: http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/4/t1...atinum-review/. All I had to do was sand one of the brackets down a bit with a grinding wheel. Worked like a charm!

You really know how to make a new guy feel welcome. Thanks!

I was replying to Bluzeboy's earlier post. He said that he had just ordered the k9a2 and was still looking for a cpu cooler. I wanted to let him know that if he decided to go with the Noctua, he would have to do a little modification to make the mounting brackets fit on the k9a2 board.

excuse me for butting in.

Look what I've done

Boonie the 5000+ should be fine for gaming, you wont get any bottlenecks on GPUs etc it should handle it all fine.

If you get a good CPU cooler you can OC it to 3.2ghz(tuinq tower) or better.
It has a 512 cache x2 but it shouldn't be that noticeable. Since it's $100 you can't really go wrong I plan on updating to the AM3 phenom's when they come out.

Even if you don't know much about intel, you can ask us. I'm sure you can get a better performing system going intel, but that's just me. Here, I'll whip up a list of parts for a nice intel system. Give me a few minutes.
