For my current rig, every year. For my new one, every six months... good questions.

With XP is was quite frequent about every 3 months. However on the vista box I've been going for almost 1 1/2 years and not really a significant loss in performance during that time.

Every 1-2 months, when doing major system upgrades, or when a software program or excessive OC causes my system to end up AFU.

Formatting isn't a problem as long as you have a GOOD image of your HDD with all patches and programs installed perfectly.

I reformat about every 6 months. I need to make a image after I install all the programs I use most often. I have Acronis Disk director suite, just haven't gotten on it yet.

Damn the poll choices really surprised me. Didn't realize everyone reformatted so often. I only reformat when needed, AKA my computer won't boot or it has a lot of spyware on it. I got this computer about 2 and 1/2 years ago and I haven't reformatted it once yet. Although lately I've been thinking about doing it because I don't know if it's performing as well as it should.
