Best Copper Heatsink w/fan for LGA775 Socket - Page 6

Why do you need such a monster heatsink on a P4? I personally would get a used E2180 CPU for less than the price of an all-copper heatsink. It would outperform any P4 by a huge margin, even at stock speeds.

TRUE Copper, IFX-14, and Prolimatech Megahalems are the best performing air coolers you can get. TRUE Copper is a rip off though (the other two cooler perform as well as it for 30-40 dollars less).

The Zalman 9700 is a pretty pathetic performer given how much it costs. It's matched or beat by heatsink less than half the price.

Heatsinks like the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and the OCZ Vendetta 2 will perform very well on dual cores and lower clocked quads, but they do not handle the heat load of OCed quads very well.

Area for area, aluminum does not dissipate heat faster than copper.

It's been proven time and time again that copper fins of the same configuration are superior to aluminum fins. The problem is that the difference is minor and generally not worth the cost or weight.

I am glad to see that the Scythe Ninja Copper was one of the first to be recommended. i have it and I am getting idle temps of 26 celcius and load temps of 49 celcius with a vcore of 1.35 from 1.20 and 500 MHz overclock. Pretty good for air cooling and with the 120mm fan I can barely hear it!

Avoid the V1.

It's terrible for the price

No. If your mobo will only support up to 1066 fsb then the 1333 CPUs will not work in your board. The best 1066 fsb dual core CPU is probably the E7500, but also check to make sure your mobo supports 45nm CPUs before getting it.

I just got my OCZ Vendetta 2 and thought it would bolt on with the existing brackets I used for the thermaltake orb that I have on now. I really do not want to take the motherboard out. Any suggestions?
