Fine Tuning E6750 - Page 2

That's a nice speed! I don't understand why you guys are able to get your chip to run stable that high. I think it's possibly because of my motherboard. If I run anything besides stock speed it gives me error when I run stress test using prime95.

My e6750 is at 1.49 corev and is maxxed out at 3.44ghz and the temps are right where they should be all day. I wish i could push it further but theres a pretty big wall holding me back.

Yes, I've heard of some E6750's being absolutely aweful for overclocking, while others have the golden wafer. As far as solutions go, for those that don't overclock even slightly, I have the feeling it may be the boards that are not overclocking correctly. Make sure you turn OFF all power features on the cpu, except maybe thermal throttling. Also make sure spread spectrum is iff, shouldn't have to raise ANY voltages for at least a few hundred mhz on your cpu. f it's not overclocking at all with all that off, it's likely your motherboard just doesn't want to go anywhere, as its for some reason already on high NB timing strap, and any higher it's out of range. If that's the case, I'd suggest (for the meantime) getting DFI P965-S Dark or one of the X38 bloodiron's, my favorite OC boards in the world, fast and cheap!

ya i think your mobo is holding you back. look into a nice P35 such as the Abit IP35-E. i had mine on that and got it to 3.52 (444x8) easily, and at 1.45v. i idled at 26C.

i havent had a problem running mine. the blood iron is an excellent board, and so is the IP35-E i just mentioned. it is only $90 at the egg.

i wouldnt recommend an old 965-S board as those are sadly coming to an end. its all about the P35's now. if you can get your E6750 to 3.6ghz i would say that is an awesome oc. there isnt a significant performance gain going from 3.6 to 3.8ghz. just bragging rights

P965-S Dark's may be getting up there in age, but if you're looking for an inexpensive overclocker for your e6750 or Q6600, it's still one of the few boards that can regularly got over 500fsb for the 4.0, and coupled with ddr1066, it's an inexpensive win if you're not planning to upgrade cpu for another couple years.

My e6750 runs stable at 3.55 with 1.35v 8hrs on orthos...but my temps seem to get a bit higher than most peoples, especially with aftermarket cooling. My freezer 7 pro leaves my cores at about 60-65 under full load after about an hour, and to me it seems like its a bit high.

3.6 is pretty peak on air. Anything past that on this chip is pushing temp and voltage limits.

What's your RAM and your NB running at? I would up those and run a memtest before I call it quits.

Right now I have my NB set at 1.5v, +.25. Temps look ok on that, ~45-55c. RAM is crucial ballistix ddr2-1066 5-5-5-15 spec 2.2v, running at spec volts at 951mhz, spec timings for good measure. RAM isn't too hot to the touch still either, mostly all but cpu stays pretty cool. Havn't managed to get that Tuniq yet though, some other things came up ><
