[dvHw] Bill Gates: Google doesn't understand the needs of businesses - Page 3

Guys comeon Microsoft KNOWS live search is worthless, that's one of the main reasons they want Yahoo. I know most of you are google junkies, but Yahoo search is actually very competent, and I do go to it and find stuff when google search doesn't.

But anyways, what's Bill doing making MS presentations? I thought he retired lol.

Hes famous, to many of nerds his word is scripture. This in itself makes anything he says important.

Microsoft's understanding of the needs of business:

Business: "We need something that does X."
MS: "No you don't. You need something does Y. Our stuff does Y. Give us a whole boatload of money for Y."
Business: "Nevermind, we'll just make it ourselves."
MS: "Fine, but we've already forced Y down everyone's throats so it won't be compatible."
Business: "So how do we make it compatible?"
MS: "Buy Y"
Business: "...you're evil, you know that?"

(this is limited to development. I dunno the inner workers of other businesses so I can't speak about their experience)

Where did you learn to argue like that? From a book? website? Do you read what you type after you click on submit button?

If I was the chairman of Microsoft, I would definitly have the same attitude as Bill Gates, face it, you own a company, you try to make it stand out to make more profit, basics of business. And it's not like Microsoft is ruining your lives by being monopolistic, if you're not happy, go learn how to use Linux (nothing against Linux users) and stop crying. Windows and Office gets things done and nicely. As for business, Microsoft in fact knows the business market, even if the Windows servers aren't all that popular, XP is still used a lot for PCs and most big companies are moving to Vista. If Windows was that bad, business would have only Linux/Sun Microsystems... OS.

I have a lot of faith in Google. It was solidified when they didn't hand over records over to US government.

Yeah, I have to say, as brands go (and I'm not somebody who usually cares for them) I do like Google a lot. In fact, any organisation who stands up to the current US government for a good reason is a real hero in my opinion. Google's actions have definitely increased my trust for the brand. They seem like the "good guys" to me. Of course, that can change, as power and wealth have a habit of corrupting weak minds and so many minds are weak. Let's hope those in charge of Google do not succumb.

Highly-Annoyed
