Are you sure it isn't speedstep or similar?

Well the only thing i have in my tray is a little blue battery icon which is the basic drivers, Not sure how i would access speedstep if it is - I know its something stopping full performance because when i put my charger in, i went to 60 FPS again.

just found this

http://www.orthogonalthought.com/blo...ower-profiles/

So yes, my thingy is speed step but even on 'always on' without my charger my performance is hindered

Did you change it in your BIOS?

I think you can set it to where it will use the full performance even if it is on battery. It will decrease your battery life by a lot though.

I found a way to change it via DOS i believe;

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\\Documents and Settings\\Sam Griffiths>cd..

C:\\Documents and Settings>POWERCFG.EXE /LIST

Existing Power Schemes
----------------------
Max Battery
Minimal Power Management
Always On
Presentation
Portable/Laptop
Home/Office Desk

C:\\Documents and Settings>

C:\\Documents and Settings>POWERCFG.EXE /CHANGE Always On
Invalid Parameters -- try "/?" for help

But not sure how to write Always On in dos, as it would just recognise 'Always'

I used it and set it to max performance, but it still stays at 800mhz, could something else be stopping it again?

Do you have your battery plugged in? a lot of laptops underclock when the battery's out.
