24" LCD question

Thread Starter
Two weeks ago I got the ViewSonic Optiquest Series Q241wb Black 24" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 800:1 for $370 at newegg.com For work. Well work bought it for me. It's a good LCD for autcad and other programs at work. I'm not running it on DVI either. It dose not work, there sending me a new one.

I want to get a new 24" LCD for my new computer I'm building. My computer I'm building it for high end vidoe games. Like most of us play. I'm not that happey with the viewsonic picture It's fuzzy, there are no dead pix at all, but for gaming I want a better picture. So what would be the best 24" LCD for me? Or im I just to picky I do not need speakers with the lcd either.

Thanks guys.

Rave reviews for the Samsung 245T Bit pricey tho! $660
I think I'm going for the Samsung 2493HM $499 TN Panel, it has all the features I'm looking for (potrait-Landscape swivel), HDMI and DVI and D-sub connections.

The reason you have a fuzzy picture is you need to use DVI for that monitor my friend. Otherwise, it could be that it was not installed, configured properly.

I figured because it was not running DVI it was fuzzy. There was no cd and no set up for this lcd. You just plug it in and turn it one. When I tried connecting the DVI cable the lcd said no signal. I called ViewSonic and they said that's all you have to do, is what I did. They said things happen and there sending me another lcd. I guess I'll wait to see what the new lcd looks like in DVI. I was going to run it in DVI anyway.

I was just wondering if there was a lcd that had a better picture but that did not coast like $700.

I wouldn't know because I am still waiting for my first 24", and even then I have never seen your monitor in all its glory.

There are usually drivers that you can get from the manufacturer website. Also, make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=ACER-2416W This is the one with the S-PVA panel, not the lesser (but still good) TN panel. If you have an office depot nearby check there as they had it on sale this weekend for a crazy $275, might be over but worth checking.

EDIT: Ewiz is NO LONGER carrying the S-PVA version, the one at the link above is now the Wsd version with the TN panel. Still a good monitor but nowhere near as good as the S-PVA version I bought at that link a month ago!

Holy CRAP! There's no way I'd pay that much for a 24" monitor with those specs, try the one I posted above, it has a very nice S-PVA panel not a TN and has much better specs for WAAAY less money. Make sure you don't confuse the AL2416W for the AL2416Wid as the later has a TN panel. The http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=ACER-2416W is the cheapest I could find the S-PVA panel version. I have this monitor and it is incredible!

Some LCDs only accept DVI-D signals, while some graphics cards can't output a digital signal over DVI, they are actually either not working, or transmitting a DVI-I signal. Nvidia is famous for having cards that do this.

I recently bought a Acer X243W from Office Depot for $300. It's 24", has DVI and VGA, 3000:1 contrast and 400cd/m2. I love this monitor so far, and it is extremely bright at night. I haven't played any games other then audiosurf so far, but it has zero ghosting issues, unlike the Dell 2407WFP-HC I had before.

The deal is good until 3/15/08.
