Tuniq Tower on an E2180 - Page 3

i just bought one and i can hit 3.5 @ 1.5V and i use a tuniq tower (40 bucks @ newegg woo!!!) and my temps at 1.5V were too high.. around 62*-63*. I lapped my tuniq since then and I'm now running stability tests and checking for temps. at 1.488V i'm at 52*C max load

Oh, don't worry about it. That's the way the newer e2180's are. Mine's sorta like that too. For example, I am staying at 2.8GHz right now because 2.9GHz seems like the absolute limit with my configuration. I'm not surprised because most people told me how that I'd be very lucky to see 3.2GHz.

But if you're stable at 3.2GHz and getting decent temps, then don't feel bad at all. Get excited: you have a 3.2GHz cpu for less then $90. The value you're getting is amazing, and so is the performance.

Besides, no two CPU's are identical insomuch that no two CPUs can overclock precisely the same on precisely the same system.

how new are you talking? i bought mine from newegg less than two weeks ago and I can hit 3.4 stable and possibly 3.5-3.7 with more volts.

Well no two CPUs are identical, so either you got lucky with a really good overclocker, or you have a superior rig. Either that, or you got one of the older e2180's. What's the pack date and batch number on yours? I'm not asking because I have the answer (I admit that my knowledge is quite limited - I go by what people on here like linskingdom have taught me so far), but rather, I'm hoping that somebody else will be able to shed light on it.

So, just to make sure, when you say that it's stable, you do mean that you ran a stress test like Prime95, OCCT, Orthos or something for well over 6 hours, right?

yeah. i'll get the batch # and pack date when i get home. I have been running orthos at 3.4GHz w/ 1.488 volts for over 12 hours now (still running). RAM is running at 1130MHz (give or take a few mhz).

Wow, and it's not overheating. It sounds like you have a better e2180 than mine, OR, your configuration is allowing a better overclock than mine is.
