virtualbox - first impression!

Thread Starter
so i decided it give virtualbox a try and see what its all about. after initially trying to get it to run in linux (and failing for some reason) i gave it a shot while running vista and i booted into my knoppix cd and all i have to say is HAHAHA! best and funniest program ive seen or used in a while lol.

how does virtual box run os`s like windows while in linux, performance wise. thinking about just using virtualbox for an OS that i can run cod4 on.

How is it funny?

It doesn't seem to run exactly 100% for everything. It works about 90% for me (although USB doesn't work.)

Forget playing games in VBox. There is no virtualization program that supports 3D acceleration.

Also, you have to install the guest additions for your experience to be decent.

i just found it humerous becuase your sitting there loading up another OS while in one..its strange and just made me chuckle slightly.

so having linux as my primary OS, then having a virtual vista os for gaming wouldnt work? damn. ill have to tinker around with it some more and see if thats the way i wanna go or not.

I like it for testing distros. It's exactly what it says it is... A virtual machine. It's not a real machine; it's a virtual one. Your machine and HDD and everything - they're all files. It's so easy for testing distros; if you need a new HDD, you just make a file lol

And no, there is no 3D acceleration with any VM software, which = no gaming.
