Best 3 120mm fans for $70 shipped??

Thread Starter
Hi everyone!

I wish to enlist the help of everyone's expertise in finding me some replacement case fans for the 690 I'll be getting for my first build ever.

I am looking to replace all 3 stock fans in the 690. I want to keep the blue LED front fan thing happening, while the other two are non-led (as this is forced to live in a desk hole, but it has excellent airflow).

Now, I want the best of the best 3 case fans money can buy, BUT, I don't want to break the budget of $70 shipped. And remember, one has to be a blue LED fan. And again, they have to be the best that $70 shipped can get me. As few compromises as possible.

I need you guys to do all the thinking for me, as I have never replaced stock cooling fans before (not that there's much thinking involved anyway).

Thank you!

Leave the stock fan in the front intake then - all it really does is cool the hard drive, you can put better fans (I don't know of any really good fans with LEDs) elsewhere in your case. For $70 I'd probably pick up four Scythe S-Flex SFF21F or SFF21E fans.

Here's how the fans are set up in my case:

1x Scythe S-Flex SFF21F mounted up top (one space empty)
Stock Cooler Master fan rear exhaust
Stock Cooler Master fan bottom intake
2x Scythe S-Flex SFF21F on side panel
Stock Cooler Master fan front intake

Now, if you're running a tower style cooler, you may not need/want the fan over the CPU since that will probably disrupt airflow more than it will help cool anything. If you do get the four S-Flex fans, here's the setup I'd recommend:

2x Stock Cooler Master non-LED fans in top blowhole mounts
1x S-Flex rear exhaust
1x Stock Cooler Master LED fan front intake
1x S-Flex bottom intake
1x S-Flex side panel (GPU slot)
1x S-Flex fan ghetto-mounted into the front 5.25" rack (no mods required - if you just screw the fan in using the top two holes in the housing they line up just fine with the pre-installed 5.25" blanking plates)

That setup should give you some very nice directional airflow without disrupting anything too much.

You could get a bunch of scythe slipstreams for $70 shipped

It becomes 69.98 if you don't live in CA, TN, or NJ.

these prices for fans are ridiculous!

i would get these, very cheap set for 5 and they push 70cfm and are silent (i have them).

or just get 4 yate loons for about $25 shipped, and buy a fan controller (if you get the same priced, faster/louder models) and save the money for a rainy day.

EDIT:

Yeah pricey $, I'm sure you can find them other places around. Shipping + tax is a biatch.

Though Scythe's are pretty good fans at 68cfm/24dba.
