They did some fullscreen upgrades with wine 0.9.57 which may break or help 3DMark06

Edit: According to a screenshot, someone got a 2453 with a 7800gt. So probably half of expected under Windows?

Indeed. I'll have to try 0.9.57 with my build when I get home in a few days.

This could be a major step in the right direction.

Does not work. Installer complains about DX needing to update. When you then try to run the program, it gives some errors and closes.

To the person who asked: scores would NOT be higher than those on a windows OS.

I disagree they could be higher, or could be lower. Its highly dependent on how everything is done. Linux does use less resources afteral, of course im not familiar with wine.

Emulating a new operateing environment puts great demand on system resources, performance will always be lower. It may be not significantly lower, but it will always be lower until operating system and emulation architecure changes.

Programs that are windows exclusive will always run better in their native environment, rather than under WINE in Linux, as the developers will have focused on how Windows will handle the application.

Sorry, poor choice of wording on my part, seeing as there is no need to emulate the hardware in Linux. My point is that sofware always runs best in an environment that it was coded for. I just felt that the term "emulator" would be easier to understand than "compatibility layer".
