Will HDD prices drop?

Will hdd prices drop by the end of this month, or in the first week of April?

A miracle happened, and I think I might be able to complete my build purchase like right now, instead of that April 1st target date I was talking about.

Some of them already did since newer sizes are being made available. Now I think that when there would be some new HDDs of 1.5TB & 2TB, there is where prices would really start to drop.

Probably not in 3 weeks though. In the next 3 to 6 months I see HDD prices dropping alot but depends on when new tech gets out. Still even the prices now are really good compared to the last couple of yrs.

The 500GBs seem to be the sweet spot lately. You can get one for about $90, which comes out to ~$0.18/GB.

250s and 320s are more expensive at around $0.26 and $0.23 respectively.

And 750s are around $0.21/GB and 1TBs are more expensive, like 250s at 26-27 cents/GB, but you buy them (the GBs) in a higher quantity.

Actually they are. But you, in the USA have lots of companies to choose from and you also benfit from many reductions in prices (ex. mail-in rebate) Thus the prices would be also cheaper!!

That makes sense. NewEgg is having a "deal" on a 500GB Barracuda for $109.99. I'm saying that, of all the HDD's, they picked the 500GB, which seems to perfectly line up with what you said.

In simple words, in the US you benefit in price reductions all year round and when their would be an offer you would also save even more and when the true reductions take place, with the mail-in rebate you would save even more.

So that is why in the US almost everyone would have at least the mid-range latest things cos if for example their budget would be $100 and want to buy an HDD they could either buy a 250GB and spend $90 or buy a 500GB and spend $110 with all the discounts etc... Hence for an insignificant amount over-budget one would have double the amount of HDD space for a fraction of the difference in price. [NOTE everything was ficticious to make state my point and be more understandable]
