How do I disable Crossfire?

Ok, I have a 3870x2 and I'm running XP Pro. It keeps saying I'm running in Crossfire and I have no clue how to disable it, or how to get rid of it.

I'm running Q6660 w/ Asus Maximus if it matters... I can answer any other q's you need.

Any help would be great, this is frustrating!

Okay. Let's see. What you could try doing is going into Catalyst Control Center. Then you go to the bottom of the tabs on the left, and click on Crossfire. There should be a check box for you to check/uncheck. That should disable Crossfire. As I have CF 3870s, and not a 3870X2, I do not know if this will help, but with a regular crossfire setup that should do the trick.

Well as you're running a dual GPU setup it should always say that it's running crossfire.
It's not slow...

Yeah but it says that I have 2 3870x2 and I don't... why's that. Does it matter what PCI slot I have the card installed in?

Like I'll run 3D Mark and it even shows me as having 2 of them, and I only have one...

It also shows I can have up to 4 monitors connected, that's the problem.

And BTW, no such option or box in Catalyst. Trust me, I'd have found it if it were that obvious..

Done, and I'm running 8.2...

8.3 caused my score to be about 2k lower in 3D Mark. I've been hearing 8.3 doesn't agree w/ XP much.

did you uninstall the 8.3 drivers then run driver cleaner pro the install the the 8.2s? if not that may be the problem

Yeah I did that for sure, my buddy has me hooked on that since he tanked once not running it.

Should I try to remove and re-install?
