Is it worth to buy Z-2300 instead of X-230 ?

Most people here will say yes. If you have a good soundcard, you will notice it.

Yes, the Z-2300's will be much better. However, if you're spending close to $100, you should check out some Klipsch ProMedia 2.1s. They're the nearly unanimous choice for ~$100 2.1 speakers here. Alternatively, you could look at getting some decent bookshelf speakers for ~$80 and get an amp for them and those would sound even better than any Logitech speakers.

I'd say the general consensus for the $100 range is

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 (non GMX) for places where lots of bass is a good thing (games, movies). Won't sound as good as the M10, but boomy bass makes grenades fun

Swans M10 for where sound quality trumps all (music). There's decent bass, but it won't rumble the house. It'll sound *amazing* for music, though.

The Z-2300 IMO doesn't really stand out in its price range.

Alternatively, you could also go the bookshelf route as rcf22 suggested. Get some Insignia Bookshelves from best buy and a Sonic T Amp Gen 2 from partsexpress.com or whereever. If I had to pick, I'd go this route. Personally, I can't stand PC Speakers since nothing from the low end comes out of the satellites. With bookshelves though, you get decent low end. Plus, it gives you the ability to upgrade the system with a subwoofer later on (Dayton 10" suggested).
