Diamond 2900 XT

Thread Starter
I have the 2900 XT card and my question is every time i play a game such as titan quest, or portal or anything game that looks pretty good after 5 minutes my computer locks up and freezes. Is this a driver issues or a mobo issue?
I had to manually set the ram to 800Mhz becuase it wasnt clocking right if that has anything to do with it. I was thinking about over clocking the video card but since its freezing all the time I'm pretty skeptical about it. Any suggestions?

Mobo: ASUS M2R32-MVP
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz
Ram: Kingston HyperX 4GB
Video: Diamond Viper 2900XT
HD: Western Digital 250GB and 320 GB
Power: OCZ GameXStream 700 Watts
Sound: Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro

Could be that the card is overheating. Is it getting enough air around it?

could be a memory issue, try each stick individually if you can and run memtest

I believe it is, the air inside the case isn't that hot, I made sure to space everything apart from one another.

Where could I get the memtest??

Or you could get it in OCN's Downloads section :/

BTW what drivers do you have on it? Did you completely remove your old ones? Manually?

What os are you using. Use atitool to control fan speed in xp for your hd2900 xt. If you have vista use rivatuner to control fan speed. 2900xt get very hot when planning high graphs games. I was playing crysis without fan control and got high as 85c.
Here is a guide so if you use rivatuner you can set the settings for fan speed.

Try using ATI Tool or riva tuner to max fan speed to see if that helps. You may also want to make sure you are using the most current drivers (and that they aren't beta)

I'm having an issuse with the new drivers, for xp the shadows in Titan quest start to get glitchy when im running around in the town or just out in the field killing monsters. Also I use Driver Cleaner Pro to erase the drivers after i unistall them but now I'm getting a message saying that there is already that current driver installed and I never got that message before.... Also Catalyst control Center likes to perform an illegal operation when I boot up the OS all the time. I have got it to work once but then It crashed when I played a game.
This comp is giving me a headache.
