evga 7600 gs temps

what are safe temps to let it get to? maximum, recommended, idle.. on stock it peaks at say 75C during the first 3dmark06 test, but overclocked i saw it peak at 80C and panicked.. im a little paranoid because it has a puny little hsf setup.. if you're wondering, i think the cooling in my case somewhat above average. stagnant air shouldn't be a problem.. any recommendations would help alot!

those are kinda high. The card can take more but your pushing it. Try uping the fan speed using riva tuner.

im gonna open my case soon to add memory, so i figured while im there ill replace the TIM btw the hsf and the gpu with AS5. good idea or no? what would u say are comfortable temps, and an absolute max for this card?

Whoa that is high. I had and 7600gs AGP,it would idle at 30c and never see above 55c on load in a airflow lacking case on stock cooling. That thermal paste is probably dry and not making good contact definitely replace it with newer TIM.

think it will make a huge difference? i will definitely replace it. does anyone have tips on how to apply to a gpu? would i follow the same procedure as an exposed core cpu (thin layer, evenly spread). or can a put a little dot and count on it spreading as the hsf smushes it? man i hope it can help, bc somethings not right with these temps.
