i have just ordered 2GB of DDR2 800MHZ GEIL BlackDragon ram, i know my board takes DDR2 800 but ive read reports that sometimes this particular memory doesnt always 'automatically' run, most people who have bought this memory have to enter the speeds manually, does anyone know if this is an issue with the ASUS M2N sli deluxe board, thanks.

Just find out what memory speeds your motherboard is advertised to support. If it supports 800MHz, then it will happily read the SPD and set speed 800MHz. If it doesn't support 800, but 667, then the auto speed will be 667.

You can run it at DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 but raise your DRAM Voltage to 1.95v.

Lots of memory will post at looser timings and sometimes lower speeds than it's rated values. This is not a defect in the memory or the motherboard, but rather the only way to guarantee everyone's memory will work. DDR2 runs at 1.8v bty defualt. High performing RAM can take up to 2.2v to run properly. Your motherboard doesn't know how many volts your RAM wants, so it usually runs it at 1.8v (the default value). Since the high performing RAM can need up to 2.2v to run at the tighter timings and/or higher speeds, it usually loads at loose timings to guarantee that the computer boots at 1.8v. Just manually set the voltage to 1.95 as recommended already, and manually tighten the timings to 4-4-4-12 and manually set it to DDR2 800.
