Well that is a thousand dollar question.

But if you want to start down the path to resolving the issue try swapping the PSU first: it's a simple test. If you get the same error then move to trying a different HDD.

This assumes that the BIOS settings are all correct.

EDIT: I have gotten a similar hang at CRC.disk. The System is trying to initialize the drivers. What happens after that is the USB comes on and it moves to the load screen. It could be a driver error or a voltage issue or some corrupted files.

What makes me suspicious of the volts is that it won't even load from the DVD.

I have a similar issue to this, usually if I wait it will eventually load, I've narrowed it down to the HD3870 drivers(for me anyways). I didn't have any problems until I installed vid drivers, once I installed that, I couldn't get a load into Vista, just a bunch of crappy looking horizontal lines, but I can get it to load in safe mode since it ignores those drivers, it works for hours in safe mode, but honestly, who the hell wants to work in safe mode.

I say upgrade to windows XP. Just a suggestion lol. I wish they would start fixing all the vista problems already. Don't know if that's your problem. I just wanted to vent about vista.....

While I respect your opinion on XP vs Vista (and I've argued that same thing), I want all the sexy eye candy that Vista has, 3D flip, dreamscenes in ultimate, etc, XP just doesn't have that going for it.

I agree about all the eye candy. It looks very nice. I'm just mad because I recently bought a laptop for my girlfriend with vista on it and it's been all headaches. But I can't bring myself to take it off cause it looks so cool lol.
