Should I lap this CPU?

Well after some MANY disastrous things that occurred to me last two weeks (i.e. monstrous cold that gave me 104 degree fever for 3 nights, having to RMA my freshly built computer, and my backup rig blowing up, which left me w/o a computer for the entire week), I've been getting some luck towards my way.

After RMA'ing all 3 of my main components, (CPU, Mobo, and RAM), I received my parts yesterday. (FINALLY...I was out of computer for a week, since my back-up rig blew up on me )

Well....Mobo was flawless, starting up without a hitch
RAM was also flawless, running 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 @ 2.0v (haven't messed with that yet)
And CPU...(my last CPU had 1.325 VID, and wouldn't go past 3.0 under ANY circumstances...it wasn't the temps, i tried it on many of my friends rigs, but no-go past 3.0...)...well my new CPU has a VID of 1.2125v Its running at 3.6 with 1.3875v on the first boot, and passed Prime95, (max heat, etc..) for 6 hours (last night) but the temps were in the 70's....That's probably due to my poor seating of the T.R.U.E.

Now...should I lap this CPU now? My t.r.u.e. is already lapped, not mirror, but FLAT...is it worth it to void my warranty already?

70c is a little hot for my taste. Id say lower the vcore and run prime for 6 hours again. repeat until it doesnt work, then kick it up one notch. if you are still unsatisfied with your temps, go for the lap! i plan on getting a true, and lapping it within the next month. whether i lap the cpu or not depends on my temps at 3.6.

Heh...anyhow I decided to give my CPU a quick run @ 4.0Ghz and Voila! It boots with 4.0Ghz on Air!! Though it wouldn't pass a second on Orthos...the fact that I can boot with 4.0Ghz on air shows me this is a decent CPU

So...should I lap this baby and add on to its value? or keep it safe so in case of some disaster?

Technically you already voided the warranty when you OC'd it, so yeah, I'd say lap it, it'll shave those last precious degree's off.

Can you get any higher than 445X9?
Have you tried 500X8 for 4.0?

Definitely try higher, Microman has gotten his up to 4.198.
