dual channel question

hey, I'm thinking about upgrading from my 478 socket ancient chip to something like a dual core. I wanted to do this with spending the least amount of money that I can.

So I was looking for 775 socket boards and I came across 1 from MSI that had a pci-e slot and an agp slot (yay i gets to keep my vidcard) and dual channel memory that states DDR2/DDR400 compatible which I'm like yay, I gets to keep my ram until I have to money to buy a nice set of ddr2 sticks.

But then I realized that one of my kingston 1gbs is ddr333. I'm hoping when it says ddr400 compatible that any ddr 184pin stick under ddr400 would work. Am I right? If you need me to get you the link of the board I will be more than happy to. Under memory it didn't say much though.

if your upgrading to a dual core your really really going to want to upgrade your ram to something like ddr2-800 or at least dd2-667. 2gb kits can be had for pretty decent prices now days. like less than $40

oh believe me, I know. Just wondering if my situation would work for the time being.
