When Prime95 quits

Thread Starter
Hello,

Does anyone ever experience Prime95 quiting on them, while trying to test. Doesn't error, but just quits. Is that a sign of unstable system?

I've also noticed that when I'm testing an overclocked machine, sometimes, CoreTemp would quit, unexpectedly. Prime95 would keep going, in current case up to 5 hrs (error free), but Core Temp just faults and quits about 10 minutes after I fire it up.

Anyone?

Make sure you have the latest versions of both programs.

Prime95 v25.6 and Core Temp .97.1 are the latest versions.

Last time this happened to me it was clearly an instability issue. I kept trying again and again and it kept quitting until BSOD

Interesting, after you said that, it did BSOD.
Btw I'm stressing a 3.75Ghz over clock. at 1.328v. So I upped the volts one notch, and started a test with prime95. It ran 20hrs, until I stopped it. But core temp still crashed once. Weird.

CPU needs more volts, mine will do that too if I starve it of power. Wolfdales are fine as long as vcore on load is 1.40v or less.

I thought 1.3625v and under was the safe voltage?

Can depend on cooling to an extent but lower vcore is always better. Try more vcore and see if it helps maybe I have the problem of programs not opening or messing up when I get real high in clocks like 3100 and above with 1.475-1.50 vcore to boot.

thx guys,

androsk, mine seems good too. Like I said, I ran prime95 for 20hrs. And have been playing Bioshock on max settings, no errors. I guess, I'll just see what happens in the next week while trying to use the PC for daily things and gaming.
