[X-Bit] $200 freon cooling system w/ case

Thermatake’s Freon cooling system, which does not have its name yet, will come up with the company’s own computer case. The company does not know yet whether it plans to offer different designs of its computer case with Freon cooling system, but that is certainly a thing that Thermaltake is taking into account and plans to consider shortly.

At the show Thermaltake demonstrated a system running quad-core AMD Phenom processor at about 3.20GHz with temperature of just 28°C - 29°C.

Quote:
The whole solution, which consists of a computer case and Freon-based refrigerating system itself, is expected to cost about $200, which is definitely not a lot considering the capabilities that it can offer.

I thought freon was fully phased out, and considered quite illegal?

I think they just use regular stuff, just the wrong choice of words in the article.

Hmm, smart placement on the condensor. So is this a premade case, or do they just give you some tubing and you have to braze it and everything your self?

Their old watercooling stuff is junk, their cases / PSU's / CPU coolers are actually very well made. Their new coolers and watercooling stuff is completely different, it is actually very well made stuff, the watercooling might not be quite as good as swiftech or dangerden, but it certainly beats the living crap out of Gigabyte, Zalman and all the other pre-made kits.

Phenom 9999 FTW edition? Likely just an OC'd 9900...which will likely never be released. My brother's AMD set-up is sad =(.
