Loadline calibration? - Page 3

Im getting 3.8 stable with llc on and my vcore at 1.35. I'm going to start actually lowering the voltage until i get instability to see how much lower i can get it. About the spike thing, if you can keep your vcore far enough away from the max im pretty sure that any spikes that you might get would be low enough still to keep the processor safe. I wish that my P35-DS3L had it!

thats a feature limited mobo you have, i am surprised you got 3.8ghz out of it stable.

you can try a higher fsb, with a lower multi, if i am not mistaken the 7400 have a 10.5 x multi on them. you can try raising the fsb to 400 and lowering the mulit to 10, which would give you 4 ghz.

up your voltage slightly to your northbridge and fsb, it might become stable with only 1.36volts to the cpu, but i think 3.8ghz you should be happy with, that is a very good overclock on a budget board and budget cpu .

Gigabyte - "Not the case anymore, turns out LLC causes dangerous voltage spikes and should be disabled"

Sorry to jump but i believe this is incorrect or at least came across as more of a risk than it is...

LLC CAN cause voltage spikes on some more than motherboards/cpu combos, to different degrees and regularities. Some low/safe others high/perhaps dangerous.. ..

If spikes cause issues for 1 % of overclockers or even 5% (which i'd strongly contest ), when you consider other issues like overvolting GPU, undercooling systems in general or even not having an adequate powersupply or even powerboard and this accounts for 30 percent, then wouldn't you consider it a manageable risk...

It's easy to test for, remedy and how many OC'ers do you know that have reduced the capacity of their CPU etc permanently as a result.. zippo to 1 i would hazzard a guess.

Excuse me all we all appreciate your advice.. i just prefer not to hear regurgerated advice based on no real evidence, other than perhaps at best a controlled test that was flawed for so many reasons that it's as beneficial in the real world, as it is helpful to consider gossip as the gospel.

Consider ALL the facts and then even at least some healthy skeptisism wont hurt anyone.....
